Originally made for use on a grouse moor where cartridge bags and gunslips were taken up the hill and dropped off at individual butts. Each gun would attach a tag which coincided with the number of his butt on so everybody received the correct guns and bags in their butt.
These tags, can be marked in a number of ways to help you identify your gear. They can be numbered in sequence from 1 – 10 to identify your peg, they can also be initialed.
Some prefer to block them with the Calibre of the cartridges they are using, or on add them to the D-ring on their slip to help identify which slip is who’s or for what gun.
