2 Silver Vintage Placefinders
1 – A hall marked 8 peg upright silver box with the most exquisite floral hand engraving, the back is engraved with exactly the same pattern as the front, but without the cartouche- empty as you can see.
The pegs are casein and the numbers are engraved on two sides of the square pegs. It measures 50 x 80 mms and 6mms thick. The lid is spring loaded and closes with a satisfactory snap, about 1930.
2 – Aspreys Silver Placefinder, this is the classic Asprey’s fan shaped placefinder, made I would guess in the 1970’s and this one is not made in solid silver but all the insides are 24 carat gold washed, it works by simply pulling up the gold plated top of the cartridge and the 10 pegs move upwards and outwards giving easy access to remove the pegs indivudally.
This placefinder comes in the original claret coloured Aspreys’ box with gold lettering and the Queens warrant.
